BOOK REVIEW :
Poetry has a unique way of reaching deep into the soul, and Poetic Letters From God by Shruti Alok does exactly that. This collection of 21 poems feels like a spiritual embrace—gentle yet profound, guiding the reader through introspection, faith, and self-discovery. Each piece carries a message that lingers long after reading, making it more than just poetry; it’s an experience of divine wisdom and personal reflection.
The free-verse style gives the book a natural flow, making it easy to absorb yet thought-provoking. Some poems hold multiple meanings, allowing for different interpretations based on one’s own journey. What I especially appreciated was the inclusion of bilingual poetry—certain verses are written in both Hindi and English, making the emotions and messages even more accessible.
Among all the beautifully penned pieces, Their Karma. You Angry? stood out to me the most. The poem is a reminder of emotional discipline—urging us not to burn in the fire of anger caused by someone else's karma. It reinforces the idea that while their actions belong to them, our response is always in our control. This simple yet powerful thought, presented in a poetic form, makes the message hit harder.
However, I do feel that some poems could have been expanded to fully capture the depth of their themes. A longer form would have allowed the emotions and reflections to settle in even more profoundly. That being said, the book’s cover is incredibly creative, perfectly setting the tone for the introspective journey inside.
Overall, Poetic Letters From God is a book for those who seek meaning, faith, and a deeper connection with themselves. Whether you are in need of comfort, inspiration, or simply a moment of reflection, this collection will remind you that you are never alone on your path.
