ABOUT THE AUTHOR :

Professionally, Narendra Murty worked as a Divisional Manager in the Life Insurance industry. However, the deep driving passion of his life has been the study of various religions and philosophies - both Eastern and Western - to which he has devoted more than three decades of his life. His first book EATING HIS MONEY – The Antics of a Metaphysical Clown, contains his commentaries on twenty-five stories of Mulla Nasrudin, the enigmatic clown. The book is an expression of his understanding of Sufi philosophy which he illustrates with concepts derived from all the wisdom traditions of the world making this subtle knowledge easily accessible to the general lay readers.

Adjudged the Best Book in the Pioneer Literature Awards, 2024, his second book AN ODYSSEY OF THE MIND – Journeys in the Modern Mindscape, is a collection of twenty deeply thought-provoking essays written over a period of ten years. The subjects include psychology, philosophy, history, sociology, the impact of technology, ecology, political philosophy and even a couple of humourous and satirical jibes on our politics, society and culture.

His third book titled THE RELIGION OF WONDER is an attempt to define religion outside the context and framework of the organized religions. It is also a call to all atheists and agnostics to sincerely explore their own negation.

Winner of the LIFT Awards 2024, his fourth book is on Zen Buddhism titled AN OAK TREE IN THE GARDEN - Exploring the World of Zen where he has provided enlightening commentaries on thirty enigmatic and enchanting Zen stories.

Apart from this, he has a YouTube channel where he explores various ideas pertaining to religion, philosophy and spirituality. Presently he is devoted full time to his study and writing. Narendra is also working as a Research Associate at Sri Aurobindo Society, Pondicherry and writes every month for their online journal Renaissance.

BOOK REVIEW :

Firstly my heartfelt congratulations to the author Narendra Murty for winning this book 'The Best Book award' in the non fiction category in the Pioneer Literary Awards this year. This is my third book of author Narendra Murty that I'm going to put my insight.

The book consists of total 20 essays that the author has accumulated in the past ten years.
All the chapters have its own unique identity as various themes from physiology to philosophy to technology are covered in this title.
However, I have enjoyed the chapter number 8, namely Addicted to Utopia. In this chapter the author has beautifully explained and discuss the entire concept with many political scholar's arguments and his own interpretation. Perhaps this is one thing that makes this book unique. However chapters such as Escaping into Illusion? , Knowledge vs. Wisdom , is really exceptional as well.

Lines such as " religion is what keeps the poor from murdering the rich ", etc. add extra depth to the title.

Overall I have enjoyed the book. This book has the potential to reshape your thinking ability and your thought process.
Here, I would like to tell one things here and there you may disagree with some ideological comments and commentary, but as you know this kind of compilation doesn’t cater to everyone. Disagreement is part of a debate. But there is nothing in this book that is imposed on a reader which is really appreciable.
Lastly, if you are looking for a philosophy intensive book that has a real life connection, this book can complement your choice.
And yes, Dwaipayan Mani has done a great job while designing the cover of the book.
